m2M partner Dr. Maaike Braham from UMC Utrecht recently participated in the 4th Regenerative Medicine Workshop, powered by the NEOLIVER project in Prague, to engage with the European bio-printing and regenerative medicine community. This event brought together other key European projects, including STRONG-UR, KeratOPrinter and LUMINATE.
The workshop served as a significant gathering point for over 70 participants, creating an environment focused on deep discussion and a collective motivation to advance the field. It also served as a strong reminder for the m2M team that translation is not a final destination, but a continuous conversation.
One of the most valuable moments was the keynote mapping the journey from lab-scale innovation to GMP-grade human cell therapy production. Seeing that full pathway laid out scientifically, technically, and operationally made it clear where the real bottlenecks sit. It was a stark reminder that decisions made early in the research phase truly matter for long-term success.
During our time in Prague the unique atmosphere created by mixing different consortia and initiatives in a single room stood out, confirming that despite working on different tissues and technologies, every project shared the same fundamental goal: moving biofabricated solutions into the human clinic.
The real alignment often happened during informal discussions between posters, panels, and coffee breaks. These moments allowed us to identify overlapping challenges in scale-up and manufacturing, spot complementary expertise rather than parallel efforts, and open doors for future collaboration instead of duplication.
For m2M, the conclusion of the week was clear: progress in regenerative medicine will depend less on isolated breakthroughs and more on how well we connect science, manufacturing, regulation, and people together.
Thank you to the NEOLIVER project, AMIRES, and all the participating partners for creating a space where these connections could actually form. We look forward to building on this momentum well beyond the workshop walls.
